Broccoli Soup
1/2 cup chopped onions
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
3 cups chicken broth
1 cup finely chopped broccoli
1 small bay leaf
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup milk

Sauté onions in butter until tender. Add flour, stirring well. Gradually stir in broth, broccoli and bay leaf. Cook over medium to low heat until broccoli is tender, stirring frequently. Remove bay leaf. Reduce heat; stir in milk and pepper just before serving.

Makes about 5 cups.
