| 2-1/2 cups green tomatoes, cut into pieces 3/4 teaspoon allspice 1-1/2 tablespoons flour 3/4 cup sugar 2 tablespoons cider vinegar 1 tablespoon butter 9-inch pie crust, top and bottom Drain tomatoes in a strainer or colander. Mix allspice, flour and sugar. Shake 1 tablespoon of mixture over the bottom crust. Put in drained tomatoes. Sprinkle remaining flour mixture over tomatoes. Sprinkle vinegar over flour mixture. Dot with butter. Put on top crust. Make slits in top crust. Bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake until tomatoes are tender. Test by poking a sharp knife through a slit in the top crust. |
