Strawberry Dumplings
1 (21 ounce) can strawberry pie filling
1-1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon butter
Red food coloring

1-1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons salad oil
Ground cinnamon or nutmeg

In a skillet combine the first 5 ingredients.  Heat to boiling.  Add red food coloring for color desired.  In a mixing bowl sift together flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.  Stir in the milk and the oil.

Drop the batter in 6 portions onto boiling fruit mixture.  Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon or nutmeg.  Cover and cook on simmer 10 to 12 minutes or until the dumplings are firm to the touch.

Serve warm with cream, cool whip, or french vanilla ice cream.

Makes 6 servings.
