Bread Pudding
4 eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups milk
3 to 4 thick slices of bread torn into pieces (cinnamon bread works great)
Raisins (optional and to taste)
Nutmeg

Bread eggs in a medium size bowl. Beat until foamy using a fork or whisk.  Add sugar and vanilla and beat well. Add the milk, bread and raisins. Pour into 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle nutmeg evenly over top.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool slightly before serving or you may serve cold.

Sauce
4 tablespoons brown sugar (packed)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon flour (rounded)
1/4 to 1/2 cup milk or water (I use 1/2 cup milk)
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Mix all ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook until thickened stirring constantly. Add the butter and vanilla.
Stir. Let sauce cool. It will thicken more as it cools. Heat slightly to serve over the pudding.
