Root Beer Cake

1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup root beer

Combine all ingredients. Blend at low speed and beat three minutes at medium speed. Can be made in a 9x13-inch pan, baked at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes or 2 (8-inch) layers at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until a fork inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.
