| Graham Cracker Cake | |||||||||
| 3 cups graham cracker crumbs 1 teaspoon salt 1-1/2 teaspoon baking powder 3/4 cup butter 3 eggs separted and room temperature 1-1/2 cups milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 1-3/4 cups sugar 1/4 cup finely chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans or one 9 x13-inch rectangle or an 11-inch spring pan. Empty graham cracker crumbs into a large bowl. Add baking powder and salt. Add shorting, egg yokes, milk, vanilla and sugar. Set aside. In separate bowl beat egg whites till stiff. Fold into mixture and add the nuts. Test to see if done after 50 minutes. |
