Banana Nut Bread
1 egg, well beaten
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 cup sifted flour
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
3 ripe bananas
1/2 cup nuts

Crush or mash bananas with fork. Add nuts and raisins and mix together.  Set aside. Cream sugar and margarine; add beaten egg and mix thoroughly. Add the remaining dry ingredients. Fold in the banana mixture.

Lightly grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Pour in the batter. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350 degrees; until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes. Loosen sides of loaf from pan; remove from pan. Cool completely before slicing.
