Remembering the old traditions
From back when I was young
Our family gathered together
Before the day was done

Some came in the morning
Others right around noon
The house was far from quiet
There were people in every room

The aroma always lingered
Of the baked goods Mom had made
The pumpkin pie and cookies
And the fresh banana bread

The chatter never ended
Causing laughter and some tears
This was my family tradition
And it went on for many years

Though the family has all scattered
Our traditions still carry on
The family always gathers
Before the day is done

I'm thankful for tradition
It taught us how to love
I'm thankful for the many things
That are blessings from above
